We would like to invite you to join the Friends of Ickleton Church by becoming a member.

ST MARY MAGDALENE CHURCH is perhaps best known for its magnificent WALL PAINTINGS which were discovered when an arsonist set fire to the church in 1979 causing widespread damage. Uncovered and initially restored in 1981, further conservation is being done on them and the clerestory windows above them in 2026. This has been achieved through a National Heritage Lottery grant, along with money raised as the result of a huge community effort.
The future of the wall paintings being secured, at least for the present, we now need to turn our attention to maintaining and conserving the rest of our splendid early medieval church which has been a focus of village life for centuries
There is no funding from the Church of England or the government towards the upkeep of this important part of Ickleton’s heritage. The Friends of Ickleton Church has been founded as a secular organisation to galvanise the support of everyone who is keen to preserve this special local building, so that it can be used and enjoyed, for many more years to come.

Annual individual membership is £10 Annual family membership is £15. If you wish to give more this will be very welcome.

A Warm Hello

Here's what to expect if you're coming to Church on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at one of our three Churches (details here) for our main Sunday Service, which starts at 10am.

We usually serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Duxford and Ickleton Churches have a toilet.

Children are more than welcome to all of our 10am services, however the services on the first and second Sunday of the month in Ickleton are more children orientated.
