Thank you from Ickleton to Rosemary and Gordon

Ickleton’s choir mistress, Rosemary McKillen, and organist, Gordon Appleton, are both retiring after many years of stalwart service and wonderful uplifting music. Both Rosemary and Gordon have been an inspiration to the choir and congregation of Ickleton, encouraging them to  attempt choral works that would be beyond most small parish churches. It is with great thanks and humility we say goodbye to them and their constant quest for excellence and their ability to just make music fun!

The choir and congregation gave each of them some thank you presents which both were very touch by. Rosemary has written a small note she’d like shared.

Rosemary’s thank you

Dear All,

Thank you very, very much for the amazing gift which you have given me on my retirement as choir-mistress. It does leave a great void in my life but it was the right time to go. I leave with many happy memories of what we did – passion plays, Joseph and, of course, all the Festival services.

My thanks came from the joy of performing them and knowing that the choir had achieved so much – great credit to you all.

I have already purchased a beautiful piece of jewellery – a silver cross. The balance of your gift has gone towards the purchase of food-mixer so that when you have a piece of my shortbread at a coffee morning, it is me saying thanks.

Love and thanks, Rosemary
